FRANCES features the preferred full varnished teak interior with varnished teak and holly sole. It is evident that the builder paid careful attention to matching the wood grains as the panels in the teak cabinetry are particularly even in color and depth of grain. The owners have been diligent about keeping up the interior varnish and have used Epifanes rubbed effect varnish on the sole and drawer fronts which provides just the right amount of sheen without being gaudy. As a serious cruising vessel, the 47.7 was designed with superb natural light and ventilation She boasts six large opening ports, ten smaller opening ports, two large hatches, and 2 smaller hatches, as well as 4 polished stainless steel dorades. Most opening ports and hatches are fitted with screens. 3 recent reverse cycle air conditioning units (2014) provide plenty of zoned heating or cooling as the climate dictates.
The forward cabin features a large V-berth with filler. The filler neatly stows on the underside of the headliner and has been varnished to match the interior brightwork. Below the berth there is storage in three lockers. The hull is lined with full-length varnished teak ceilings which means even the insides of the lockers are finished in varnished teak. Chain locker access is located at the fwd bulkhead. Aft of the port V there is a 4 drawer bureau with an additional locker outboard while opposite to starboard is a hanging locker. Private access to the forward head is to port. The Forward Head features a manual W.C. currently plumbed to a holding tank with Y valve. Teak grate in head. The head has an ensuite shower, porcelain sink vanity with pressure H&C water, and generous storage.
The Main Salon features an L settee to port which makes out to a double berth. There are two barrel chairs opposite. Salon upholstery was replaced in 2021 (Sunbrella Canvas Air Blue). Storage is voluminous; forward of the barrel chairs is a countertop with a locker and shelves below as well as another locker outboard. There are deep lockers behind the chairs and a second row of lockers above with bookshelves. This arrangement is mirrored to port while below the settee there is even more storage in drop face lockers. Aft of the L-settee is a cabinet with top loading freezer box, outboard of which is a bar cabinet. Dining is from a large drop leaf varnished teak table.
Aft of the Salon and to starboard, convenient to the Companionway and Salon, is the U shaped Galley featuring generous counter space with a tile back splash, deep double basin stainless steel sink with pressure H&C water and manual fresh water pumps, top and front load well-insulated refrigeration box fitted with Sea Frost 12V Fridge. Cooking is on a three burner Force 10 stainless steel propane gimbaled stove with oven. A microwave is located above the stove. Storage is abundant in several lockers and drawers as well as racks for spices and cups.
Aft of the Salon and to port is the walk-through to the private aft cabin. Access to the machinery compartment and electrical panels is inboard while outboard is an extensive Navigator's Station with full vessel electronics, stowage for manuals, flip top chart table, below is a set of drawers and navigator's seat. Aft of the Nav. Station is a generous wet locker.
The Primary Stateroom, is aft and features a true full-sized queen berth with a custom inner spring mattress. There is voluminous storage to P&S with 4 lockers with shelves and 5 large drawers to port along with 3 drop face lockers and a generous cedar lined hanging locker while to starboard there are 2 large drawers, 3 lockers with shelves and 2 drop face lockers. Just off the stateroom to starboard is a large Primary Head featuring a separate stall shower with seat, electric Raritan Elegance Head with new hoses 2023.
The interior of FRANCES is superb throughout and shows like a yacht several years newer.
